Columbus — Office of State Auditor Keith Faber received top honors for its comprehensive annual financial report from the Association of Government Financial Officers of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
This is the 25th consecutive year that the Office of the Auditor has earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting, the GFOA’s highest form of recognition for government accounting and financial reporting.
“Professionals in this office work hard every day to ensure that public funds and resources are used effectively, efficiently and transparently to taxpayers,” Auditor Faber said. “I am proud of the work they do and the accolades they have received. »
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional organization with more than 21,000 members dedicated to promoting best practices among finance professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
The association launched its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program in 1945 “to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare reports comprehensive annual financials that demonstrate the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.….”

The Office of the State Auditor, one of five independently elected statewide offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 6,000 state and local government agencies .
