ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – The Rockdale County Department of Finance recently received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report for fiscal year 2020, county officials said.
The award recognizes local governments that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that demonstrate the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
“I commend Executive Director Mark Lewis and our finance department for their exceptional diligence, and Rockdale County administrators and elected officials for their commitment to ensuring the financial integrity of our county,” said BOC Chairman, Oz Nesbitt, Sr. “We are honored to receive this award recognizing Rockdale County’s continued demonstration and adherence to fiscally responsible practices.
GFOA has recognized Rockdale County for 13 consecutive years in government accounting and financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by a government and its management.
